Format – Control data type & formatting

Format Dropdown

Element Description
Alphanumeric Field will retain any formatting applied within the original data (e.g. decimal places, currency symbols, etc)
Number Format as whole number or to a specified number of decimal places.
Percentage Adds a trailing percentage symbol. Format as whole number or to a specified number of decimal places.
Currency Choose from $ Dollar, € Euro, £ Pound or 元 Yuan.
Custom Create your own customised number format including currency symbol, comma and decimal places. Positive/negative numbers are expressed in the format ###,###.##;-###,###.##
Hyperlink Create PDF-friendly clickable links with customisable Text and URL. Unlike the syntax for custom fields, hyperlinks are typically configured using curly braces. As an example, the URL syntax https://catalogautomation.com/product?id={ProductCode} will link to a specific ProductCode on the host website.
Imported Text Import formatted text including RTF and InDesign tagged text.
Date/Time Import from a known date/time format (e.g. 2001-12-25 12:34:56) and reformat as a chosen date/time format (e.g. Tuesday 25 December, 2001).
Formatting Rule Apply an EasyCatalog formatting rule to the field.
Tabular Import field with tabbed values to facilitate creation of ready-made tables from a single EasyCatalog field.

Strip Whitespace

Removes spaces, tabs, return markers etc which appear at the start or the end of the field.

Formatted

Applies any formatting tags found within this field’s data as configured in the Field Formatting Tags option.

HTML

Applies HTML formatting found within the field. Any unrecognised HTML tags will be removed from the source text prior to placing the text on the page.

Standard Applies basic HTML formatting
Enhanced Applies extended HTML formatting including new lines, colouring, etc

Valid HTML tags include <b>, <i>, <ul>, <ol>, <li>, <br>, <p> and <font>.

Updates Preserve Local Formatting

Data updates using Update Document made after the field has been placed on to the page will endeavour to preserve any formatting overrides that have been applied to the field.

Ignore White Space Characters

Instructs EasyCatalog to ignore changes made to selected white space characters (e.g. tabs, return characters). Update Panel will only update the source field within the EasyCatalog panel when non white space characters have been changed.

Preserve Whitespace on Update

Instructs EasyCatalog to ignore changes made to selected white space characters (e.g. tabs, return characters) when refreshing the document using Update Document.

Exclude from Panel Updates

Instructs EasyCatalog to exclude field from panel updates when changes are made to selected white space characters (e.g. tabs, return characters) when syncing the document content to the panel using Update Panel.
