Category Setup – Configure category display including text blocks & attributes

The Category Setup tab allows you to control how the selected category or collection is configured, including the setup of category text blocks and product attributes.

Category Display Setup

To begin, navigate to the category or collection you wish to set up. Click the Edit button towards the top right of the page to enable editing for the Category Name, Product Collection Sort and Template. Choose Save to confirm your edits or Cancel to keep as is.

Category Name

The Category Name may be edited within the text box shown.

Product Collection Sort

Not currently in use. [Producty will sooon allow uses to specify whether to sort by the Sort field within Products or by a specific attribute value.]

Template

Select which Template to apply to this category or collection. This template will be contained within the EasyCatalog export file and is used to display collections differently within your catalog. For example, new products/collections may include more technical details or marketing information, whereas accessory products may be listed in summary.

Unless a Template name is selected for a specific category or collection, the Template name will be inherited from a parent recursively up the tree. [If no Template has been selected then the Default template will apply to all categories and collections.]

Category Text Setup

Category Text Inheritance

The display of Category Text Blocks may be configured for a particular category or it will be inherited from a parent recursively up the tree.

Inheritance On

The message Text blocks shown on Products in this Category are Linked from level above is displayed if category text blocks are being inherited from the parent.

Inheritance Off

The message Text blocks shown on Products in this Category are Not Linked from level above is displayed if category text blocks are being not inherited from the parent.

Add Text Block

Category text blocks may be configured for the selected category if inheritance is off. Selecting the desired category text block from the dropdown menu will add this item to the list above. Choose Save to confirm your edits or Cancel to keep as is.

Editing Category Text Setup

Click the Edit button towards the top right of the page to enable editing for the Category Text Setup. Choose Save to confirm your edits or Cancel to keep as is.

Reordering values

Once Edit has been enabled, the sort order of the category text blocks shown may be altered by clicking the appropriate up and down arrows. Choose Save to confirm or Cancel to keep as is.

Deleting values

Once Edit has been enabled, a category text block may be deleted by clicking the appropriate Delete button. Choose Save to confirm or Cancel to keep as is.

Product Attribute Setup

Product Attribute Inheritance

The display of Product Attributes may be configured for a particular category or it will be inherited from a parent recursively up the tree.

Inheritance On

The message Attributes shown on Products in this Category are Linked from level above is displayed if product attributes are being inherited from the parent.

Inheritance Off

The message Attributes shown on Products in this Category are Not Linked from level above is displayed if product attributes are being not inherited from the parent.

Add Text Block

Product attributes may be configured for the selected category if inheritance is off. Selecting the desired product attribute from the dropdown menu will add this item to the list above. Choose Save to confirm your edits or Cancel to keep as is.

Editing Product Attribute Setup

Click the Edit button towards the top right of the page to enable editing for the Product Attribute Setup. Choose Save to confirm your edits or Cancel to keep as is.
